Dates: 09 - 14 July 2026

Object theatre is a contemporary, visual theatre genre in which everyday objects are the protagonists. The objects are not animated as puppets, nor are they used as props. Instead, they are used for what they have come to be, containers of memories.
Key areas of exploration include:

· The poetic value and memory embedded in objects.
· Unlocking the dramaturgy of objects by adapting a memory, a photograph, a text, or a single word into Object Theatre.
· The status of the object and the status of the performer in Object Theatre (narrator, manipulator, character).
· Cinematic techniques applied to Object Theatre. Although no camera is used, participants will draw on a shared cinematic vocabulary and spectator experience (montage, close-up, tracking shot, sequence, shot/reverse shot, etc.).
· Shifting focus between performer, object, or both simultaneously, through exercises on clarity of movement and the information conveyed to the audience.
· How working with objects can support artistic autonomy, help performers discover a personal theatrical language, and cultivate simplicity and honesty in stage presence.
· We will work in a small group to ensure personalised interaction and quality time with each participant.
· We will give feedback after each improvisation and will collectively work on it.
· The aim of the workshop is not only to introduce you to the key techniques of this genre, but to guide you in discovering ideas and material suitable for further development.

Join Us for a Creative Journey

The 𝚰𐓣𝗍𝖾𝗋𐓣α𝗍𝗂ⱺ𐓣αᥣ 𝐏υρρ𝖾𝗍𝗋𝗒 𝐑𝖾𝗌𝗂ᑯ𝖾𐓣𝖼𝗒 is the heartfelt dream of Eleni Voyiatzidou and Alexandros Seitaridis, born from their shared love of puppets and their deep belief in the transformative power of this timeless art form. Puppetry, for them, is more than an artistic expression—it’s a way of connecting people, sparking imagination, and fostering emotional healing. Through the residency, they’ve created a space where individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds come together, not just to learn techniques, but to live, create, and collaborate as a community. This shared journey highlights the therapeutic value of puppets, their ability to break down barriers, and their unique power to communicate stories that resonate with all ages. Above all, this residency is their mission to keep the art of puppetry alive and thriving, inspiring new generations to see its magic, explore its potential, and carry its traditions forward into the future.
